April 13th Meeting: Painting on Silk

The artist this month is Donna Marchetti. She is a fabric artist and will be painting on silk for her demonstration. After studying drawing and watercolor at the Cleveland Museum of Art, Donna discovered her real artistic love – hand-dyed and hand-painted textiles. While primarily self-taught, she has enriched her experience through classes at the Cleveland Institute of Art. She employs various techniques from direct dye application to batik and traditional Japanese shibori resist dyeing. Donna works at her studio in the 5^th Street Arcades. Her work is sold at Sandy Buffie Designs. Donna’s work was recently featured on the television program New Day Cleveland. She is a member of the Textile Art Alliance at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
