The artist this month is Donna Marchetti. She is a fabric artist and will be painting on silk for her demonstration. After studying drawing and watercolor at the Cleveland Museum of Art, Donna discovered her real artistic love – hand-dyed and hand-painted textiles. While primarily self-taught, she has enriched her experience through classes at the Cleveland Institute of Art. She employs various techniques from direct dye application to batik and traditional Japanese shibori resist dyeing. Donna works at her studio in the 5th Street Arcades. Her work is sold at Sandy Buffie Designs. Donna’s work was recently featured on the television program New Day Cleveland. She is a member of the Textile Art Alliance at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
New Location: After years at the South Euclid Community Center, we are moving. Our new location is the Fellowship Hall downstairs at the Bethany Covenant Church at 5120 Ridgebury Blvd. in Lyndhurst 44124 (close to Richmond Rd.). There is an elevator available in order to reach the hall if needed. Please enter through the back door, which is easily accessible from the parking lot.
New TIME: Another big change is that we no longer hold our meetings at night. We voted on this in June. We will have our first meeting on September 9th at 1:30 pm. We may add another meeting that will take place in the evenings LATER on in the year for those who work during the day.
New Dues: Dues have gone up– see the Membership page
This website! This is in addition to our Facebook page, and much handier too. Please spread the word. At this time, we are using this free WordPress blog site. If our membership and funds increase, we can get a little fancier and more involved. For now, this is a good step up! Pass this website on to many that you know, please.
